Best Dentist DothanAs the best dentist in Dothan, patients count on us to keep them in good oral health and to provide them with information about dentistry.  We take the time to get to know our patients and answer their questions because we believe that an informed patient will be better equipped to care for their teeth and gums at home.  After all, we cannot be the sole promoter of good oral health.  We can partner with our patients to keep them healthy, but regular care at home is still important.  We have found that many of our patients ask the same or similar questions when meeting with us.  We have, therefore, provided you with answers to commonly asked questions here.

Why have I gotten different opinions from different dentists?

If you have visited more than one dentist, you may find that they each have a different procedures that they suggest for fixing your oral health problem. This is fairly normal because, in dentistry, there are multiple procedures to address the same issues.  There is no one solution for correcting something like a chipped tooth or replacing one that has fallen out.  This is good for patients because it provides people with a choice, but it can also be confusing.  In our dental office, we will provide you with all of the options so that you can determine which procedure you want to proceed with.  Since there are multiple ways to achieve the same goal, it is really all about your comfort level.

Can you remove the stains on my teeth?

Yes, we can whiten your teeth using our standard teeth whitening procedure. This is extremely effective at removing stains and turning yellow teeth into white ones.  If, however, you have particularly stubborn stains that are refusing to be lifted, we can use dental veneers to cover the stains and give you a perfect smile.  We are the best dentist in Dothan for these types of cosmetic procedures and will ensure that your smile looks spectacular.

Will my chipped tooth need to be pulled?

As the best dentist in Dothan, we will do whatever we can save your natural tooth, and it is very rare that we pull one out.  In modern dentistry, there are several ways to restore a natural tooth in both appearance and functionality.  This is always our preference, so we often use things like a dental crown or dental veneer in order to restore a tooth.  If your tooth is infected, we may be able to save it as well.  In that case, a root canal may be necessary in order to do so.

Why does my crown needs to be replaced?

A crown is designed to restore and protect your tooth, but it is not designed to last forever.  Many people have gotten their crown to last for over twenty years while others find that it needs replacing after five.  This huge swing is in part due to how well you take care of your teeth and gums. If you have repeated gum disease, your restoration and all of your teeth may be at risk. If, however, you remain healthy it should last for years.  If we do notice that your crown appears to be wearing out we will let you know so that it can be replaced before you experience discomfort.
